Response to Guinnevere's Binary Models Blog Post

"The difference between the two is very obvious, but at the same time it is difficult to see."

This quote comes straight from Guinnevere's blog (http://guinnsfirstblog.blogspot.com/). Guinnevere discussed the binary models, specifically the hot and cool binary model. She has a very well written post, and I agree with what she talks about. However, there is a part in her blog where she stated that it can be difficult to figure out the difference between hot and cool models, when you can also give cool models your full attention. So, I felt like I could take this time to explain the difference between the two to help anyone who is struggling to differentiate the hot and cool sources.

Guinnevere stated in her blog that you can give any cool mass media sources your full attention, therefore making it difficult to differentiate between the two categories. I agree with this statement 100 percent, and Guinnevere is not wrong with her statement. However, the major difference of a hot binary model is that you absolutely have to give your full attention to it in order to understand and process the material. You could never read a book while doing something else because you wouldn't be able to fully understand the content. On the other hand, cool media sources don't require your full attention to understand it, but like Guinnevere stated, you can give cool media your full attention if you wanted to. But that doesn't necessarily make it a hot mass media source. One way Mr. Miller explained to our class to help us understand the difference is that cool media sources typically require audio and listening, while hot media sources typically require you eyes and reading.

I believe, like Guinnevere stated, that you can give cool media sources your full attention, but there definitely is a deeper difference between the two than just what we see on paper. Guinnevere did an amazing job with this post, and she has a spectacular blog. You should go check it out!
